It is undeniable that the language of any country is the greatest means of achieving the
excellence of the people of that country. After the nation-division of 1947, the Bengali
language and culture of East Bengal faced many obstacles. Officially, efforts were made to
make Urdu the sole state language of that region. The aim was to make all the Bengalispeaking people weaker day by day, culturally and hence socio-economically. Bengalis
unite against this conspiracy – the deadly history of stopping the conspiracy against the
language is known to all. The Bengali-speaking people gave birth to many touching poems
and songs in tragic sorrow. In this way, through various discussions, poems and songs, the
conscious Bengalis made a sincere effort to get rid of the deep crisis that cultural practices
faced due to the government’s hostility. In this research paper, an attempt will be made to
look back at those songs of the post-independence period, which have given strength to the
minds of Bangladesh and Bengalis, and have become a vehicle for declaring the oath of
freedom. | |
