‘Nirabindu’: Nirendranath and His
Philosophy of Life Sumana Ghosh, Former Student, Department of Bengali, Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan, Birbhum, West Bengal, India.
Nirendranath Chakraborty was a legendary poet in the context of Modern Bengali
literature. From the beginning to the end of his life, he devoted himself to creative literary
work. He developed himself bit by bit through life's ups and downs, brokenness, the village
environment, various personal experiences, interactions with different people, and nature.
Just as an artist carves out a piece of stone to reveal an unimaginable figure, he discovered
himself bit by bit. He mainly preferred poetry while also writing prose. He knew he had his
own poetry style, helping him reach many people. He never aimed to measure his creation
by quantity but expressed what he could. The article delves into how Narendranath
transitioned into the poet Narendranath, focusing on his journey of ‘becoming’, especially
highlighted in his autobiographical book ‘Nirbindu’.
