In 2003, Tripura writer Alok Dasgupta published the graphic narrative "Senapati Roy Kachag," which delves into the historical conflict between King Dhanmanikya of Tripura and Gaur King Hussain Shah. This work explores regional history by drawing from Tripura's historical text "Rajmala." Instead of focusing on royalty, the narrative highlights the heroism of Kachag, the son of a common tribal family. By shedding light on this often overlooked chapter of history, Dasgupta brings the story of a common man's valor to the forefront. The author has pioneered a new genre of literature by presenting history through a blend of pictures and stories. This innovative approach not only entertains but also incorporates elements of social and moral education. The primary aim of this paper is to delineate and scrutinize the emergence of Tripura's history through the medium of graphic narrative. | |
