Bengalis are a festival-prone nation, with thirteen Parbans in its twelve months as well as several folk festivals. Folk festivals are festivals celebrated by folk people. The festival starts from the first day of Bhadra month, Bhadu is established on the first day of Bhadra month and Bisarjan on Sankranti day. In some places Vadu is worshiped in abstract form and in other places as Vadu Murthy, this Vadu Murthy is very similar to Lakshmi Murthy. Nowadays, the popularity of Vaadu festival has waned due to modern technological entertainment media being easily available to people and the urge for career oriented life. At present this festival is celebrated only on the day of Bhadra Sankranti in some places of Greater Bengal.
