ABSTRACT |
This research paper titled ‘ভূমি ও মূল্যবোধ: প্রাচ্য ও পাশ্চাত্য দর্শনে ভূমির প্রতি নৈতিক দায়িত্ববোধ’ (Land and Values: Ethical Responsibility toward Land in Eastern and Western Philosophy) explores the ethical perspectives and philosophical values regarding land in both Eastern and Western traditions. In Eastern philosophy- particularly in Vedic, Upanishadic, Buddhist, and Jain thought- land is viewed not merely as a material resource, but as a living entity, a mother figure, and an essential presents a layered and evolving conception of land. From ancient Greek part of moral coexistence. Duties toward land, a sense of indebtedness, and empathy are central themes in these traditions. In contrast, Western philosophy similarities and differences between Eastern and Western perspectives, this materialism and Christian colonial mindsets to modern environmental ethics-such as Aldo Leopold’s Land Ethic and Arne Naess’s Deep Ecology- Western thought has contemporary ecological crises. O pened new avenues for ethical reflection on land. By analyzing the study highlights the need for a comprehensive, intersubjective ethical approach to land, which can provide vital philosophical insights in addressing
