Environmental hazards have now become a topic of discussion. After a long tumult it is taken for granted that the environment should be a priority in our daily thinking and behavior patterns. We have already taken a firm commitment to protect the greenery around us. This dangerous situation is not only a problem specific to one nation or one country, but it is the obvious dilemma of the whole world. This dire situation should be avoided by developing full consciousness against the occurrence of environmental hazards. Nature runs as a consistent friend in all of Rabindranath Tagore's works. He was an environmental pioneer and sought harmony between progress and conservation. Even a century ago he was eloquent about the exploitation of the environment. Decades before the environmental movement began in the West, he became concerned about human impact on the environment. This experience prompted him to write at length about his concern with the way modern man was failing to respect nature. His philosophical thinking regarding the solution of environmental problems was also very important. | |
