Language Change in Bengali Literature in the Digital Age: A social media–Based Analysis Quazi Md Moslamin, Assistant Teacher, Hamdan Mission, Uluberia, Howrah, West Bengal, India | |
This
study examines the transformation of the Bengali language in the digital age,
with a particular focus on its usage across social media platforms such as
Facebook, YouTube, and blogs. The rapid expansion of digital communication has
significantly influenced the structure, vocabulary, and stylistic features of
the Bengali language. This research analyzes key patterns of language change,
including code-mixing, phonetic typing, abbreviations, and the use of emojis
and visual elements.
The study also explores how these
linguistic changes are affecting contemporary Bengali literature. It highlights
the emergence of new forms of digital literature, characterized by brevity,
informality, and immediacy. While these developments have made language more
accessible and dynamic, they also raise concerns about the decline of
grammatical accuracy and literary depth. By comparing traditional literary Bengali
with digital forms of expression, this paper aims to evaluate both the positive
and negative impacts of these changes. The findings suggest that while digital
transformation poses certain challenges, it also opens new possibilities for
linguistic creativity and literary innovation. | |
