In the Stream of Life-based Novels, Sonali Danar Chil: An Analytical Study Ujjwala Sutradhar, Research Scholar, Department of Bengali, Tripura University, Suryamaninagar, Tripura, India.
Jibanananda Das is one of the memorable poets of modern Bengali poetic literature. Introverted Jibanananda always lived in the solitude of poetry in his own world. Sometimes he is lost in the depths of the soul, and sometimes he is absorbed in memory. We see that Bengali successful novels started to be written from the 19th century, but in the latter half of the 20th century, the writing of novels based on Bengali personal life began. In the 21st century, the tide came in the literature of this stream. Writers of this period have written novels about the lives of various historical figures, like Madhusudan, Nazrul’s life. There, in 2009, Suranjan Prananik wrote a 462-page long novel titled ‘Sonali Danar Chil’, about the life of Jibanananda, an diverse and monotonous life. Again the publisher has announced about this novel that it is a ‘biographical novel’. We will try to judge whether this declaration of the publisher is correct or not in this research article. That is, whether ‘Sonali Danar Chil’ has become a true personal life novel will be judged with logic. Besides, it will be seen why the novelist wrote such a novel in the present time and the relevance of the novel in the present time will also be analyzed.
