The Centuries-old Dhanvantari Kali and Jaychandi Temples: Then and Now

Dhanantari Kali and Jaychandir Temples are the famous traditional temples of Jayanagar Majilpur area of South 24 Parganas district. The 400-year-old maiden story of this temple is rotated in the people mouth, with the ‘Besher mela’ on the occasion of the mother’s birth in Bengali ‘Baishakh’ month, it is known that at this time sixteen changes and special witches are conducted. After the end of this fair, the worship of the Jayachandi temple begins in the Bengali ‘Joistha’ month and here too after worshiping and worshiping the mother for a long time, food (Onnovog) is distributed. Pilgrim visitors from far and wide flock to this fair. The origin, greatness, rules and regulations of this traditional temple is a sign of how much it is accepted or respected by the modern-society, tried to highlight through survey.
