ABSTRACT | |||
Rabindranath Tagore’s ‘Chokher Bali’ is a modern psychological novel. In this novel, he revealed the philosophy of the new stage of literature. Here the novelist has not only given the details of the events, but also analysed and presented the extract of each character’s ‘Anter Katha’. The main characters of the novel, Binodini– Bihari, Asalata– Mahendra, the tension of their mutual relationship and the evaluation of the events have revealed the nature of the heart in every chapter of the novel. Also, among other characters Rajlakshmi and Annapurna, their characteristic change has been observed with the change of events. From Rajlakshmi’s mother’s jealousy to the end, the novelist has revealed the pure side of the mother's heart. In this novel, Annapurna is a female character who stands above the world. So, in the end, the novelist has taken initiative to take Binodini to Kashi as a shelter and has drawn a happy ending of the novel. Also, Binodini’s perverted needs have finally resulted in her transformation from demon form to goddess form. Even in Mahindra fickle mind, stability emerges through the tension at the end of the novel. The intelligent Bihari has finally weakened the power to express the love of the heart. The most radical change is seen in the character of the girl Asalata. Binodini, who was playfully called the apple of his eye, after developing into a perfect woman, has truly become the apple of his eye. After all, it can be said that the novel ‘Chokher Bali’ is a living example of the change in character traits through a thorough analysis of events. So, it can be said that the novel Eyeball is a wonderful creation of Rabindranath’s modern social psychological novel. | |||
