In present day 'Women Empowerment' is most discussed issue in society. In our patriarchal society women are known as the second gender. The goal of women empowerment is to create equality between men and women by improving women's overall conditions. By empowering women, they are able to control their own lives as well as to make decisions on social, political and economic issues of society. At the present time this attitude is quite realistic but thousands of years ago the concept of equality and empowered women is noticed in our literature. In Mahabharata many educated and empowered women are found. But amongst them ‘Satyabati’ is the special character who controlled the whole Mahabharata. Satyabati's Character represents that, in that era women had a clear understanding of their rights and their duties. In a very short portion of Adikanda of Mahabharata the story of Satyabati is introduced. But its impact is widespread. At first Satyabati is known as Dhibarkanyya in her early life but later she became the Rajmata of the Kuruvamsha. The whole story of Mahabharata is controlled by her. The decisions made by her in various crucial situation like marriage of Vichitravirya, the Niyoga system etc are indicate her efficiency of decision making and modern broad thinking also. | |||
