Ayurveda is one of the ancient medical systems of India. The main objective of Ayurveda which is a combination of 'Ayu' and 'Veda' is health protection and improvement of health, correct treatment and prevention of diseases. The modern medical system has improved a lot and along with it, human diseases have increased in leaps and bounds. In keeping with the current dynamic era, unhealthy diet and uncontrolled lifestyle are making people fall ill easily, forcing people to seek medical treatment. The problem is that current medical systems can easily cure people from the disease, but also cause other side effects, which increase the chance of relapse later. And that's why in the present age people are again relying more on the ancient side effect free Ayurvedic treatment. If we review the medical system of southern states, especially Kerala, we can see how Ayurvedic treatment is curing diseases and foreigners from different countries are also taking advantage of this treatment system. The history of this Ayurvedic practice is very old. Although the names of Charakasamhita, Susrutasamhita, Ashtangahridaya are famous as the ancient and independent books of Ayurveda scriptures, we first get to know about Ayurvedic practice in Vedic literature and Ayurveda has been placed as an important subject in various Smritishastras and Dharmasastras of the later period. I will try to shed light on how Ayurveda was discussed in Manusamhita and Arthashastra and how important it was. | |
