Environmental Ethics: Human Role in Environmental Welfare and Future Generations Sheikh Lalchand Badsha, Assistant Teacher, Department of Philosophy, Baram High School (H.S.), Purulia, West Bengal, India
Environmental Ethics is an important tools of Applied Ethics. UNESCO had recognised to observe 5th June as ‘World Environmental Day’ since 1970.The level of ozone atmosphere of our earth is being dangerously decayed by the poisonous gases which are emitted by many vehicles, big factories, mills etc. The lifestyle of human beings is at stake with the increasing of population every day and poisonous gases such as carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide, sulfar dioxide, acid rain, chlorofluorocarbon etc. Not only environment is hampered by sound pollution, water pollution, but also human beings on earth are being attacked by incurable diseases. The melting of ice in Antartica continent, irregular raining, flood, drought, and excessive heat, all these are the fatal result of environment pollution. Yet some environmentalists along with common men are engaged to protect Nature. Some of the countries have made strict laws in order to control deforestation and many factories. Arne Naess’s ‘Deep Ecology’ has shown friendly living with environment, natural wild environment, reservation of diversity animals, and controlling population in this articles. It is said in Anthropocentrism that men are the centre of everything and whatever has on the earth, they are for only men. It has been mentioned in ‘Deep Ecology’, ’To live and let live’, that is, everything of ecosystem is intrinsic value. It is our prime duty to maintain and protect environment of the world for the sake of our future generations without affecting it, since we have come this beautiful world to be departed again.
