Environment and Ethics: A Philosophical Inquiry

The environmental crisis represents a significant danger to the continued existence of human being. Challenges such as climate change, decline of biodiversity, pollution, greenhouse effect, decline of ozone layer, and excessive use of natural resources have increased this worldwide issue. This paper presents a philosophical exploration of the connection between environment and ethics, investigate how human behavior towards nature is rooted in morality. In particular, the relationship between humans and nature is re-evaluate in light of various moral theories such as anthropocentrism, biocentrism, ecocentrism, and deep ecology.
 
The research contends that environmental issues are not only solely scientific or technological obstacles but are fundamentally ethical and value driven concern. Furthermore, it understood the importance of Indian philosophical tradition, which emphasize harmony, non-violence, and respect for nature, as a crucial basis for environmental ethics and also western tradition.
 
The study concludes that a comprehensive ethical framework is crucial for tackling environmental emergencies— one that acknowledges both human requirements and the inherent worth of nature, while also fostering accountability for future generations.
