Jatindramohan Bagchi was a poet as well as an accomplished magazine editor. Jatindramohan was not satisfied with just writing literature, in fact he was directly or indirectly associated with various trends in the literary movement of the 20th century. ‘Mansi Patrika’ was first published in 1909 AD under the editorship of Jatindra Mohan Bagchi. Then in 1913, Maharaja Jagadindranath Roy of Natore became the editor of ‘Mansi Patrika’. But although he was the magazine editor, the main director was Jatindramohan Bagchi. He gradually enriched this magazine. Jatindramohan was one of the editors of this magazine till 1914 AD. In 1916, ‘Mansi Patrika’ was merged with ‘Marambani Patrika’ and published as a monthly magazine called ‘Mansi and Marma Bani’. Jatindra Mohan Bagchi was also involved in editing. Then in 1921-1922, Jatindramohan Bagchi edited ‘Jamuna’ magazine for five years in collaboration with Fanindranath Pal. After that, ‘Kallol’ magazine entered in 1923, Jatindramohan Bagchi did not edit that magazine. He has written several articles only in ‘Kallol’ magazine. Jatindramohan Bagchi edited a monthly magazine called ‘Purbachal’ in 1947. This magazine was the last magazine editing work of his life. He was able to edit this magazine in just one year. Then he passed away on 1st February 1948. | |
