Sundarban is the world's largest solenary tree forest. It is located in two district of West
Bengal and Bangladesh. There is not as much literature written about the Sundarban as
there are materials for writing literature on the Sundarban . However, the number of
literature written about the Sundarban is not insignificant. Since the second half of the 20th
century many novels have been written about the Sundarban. The famous writer of Bengali
fiction is Shivshankar Mitra and Shaktipada Rajguru. Shivshankar Mitra has written five
novels and shaktipada Rajguru has written total of seven novels on Sundarban. They went
to the Sundarbans, saw everything with their own eyes and presented it in the novels. An
analytical discussion of these two novels centered on the Sundarban, ‘Sundarban’ by
Shivshankar Mitra and 'Nonagang' by Shaktipada Rajguru is attempted in the article. The
novels depict the natural beauty of the Sundarban alone with its fear and horror. In the
pursuit of livelihood people suppress fear and live with tiger. Every day how many people is
food for tiger. However, people of Sundarban still have a love and attraction to the
beautiful forest. | |
