Nothing can be measured in a single container in the course of evolution that civilization has taken since its birth and continues to do so. Due to the various needs of human society, this evolution has made the known to unrecognizable. Folk culture is the main carrier of our primitive social culture; which traces its roots back to the past, today its existence is waning in a very inconsistent manner. It has evolved into different flavours as well as tastes; It also flows in a different stream; As a result of gradual modernization, the uneducated, rude and rural society has shifted towards the educated, polite, tasteful for entertainment. And adding to that, modern sounds, cutting-edge perspectives urban society and above all cutting-edge equipment; As a result, their original tone is being lost. So, the immediate objective of our essay is how, to what extent, changed or unchanged folk culture has linked up with urban life; Analysing it in a post-modern way of fieldwork; As a text of analysis, we have selected Bhadu or Bhadugan, a popular folk festival in Labpur block of Birbhum district. | |
